I watched Franklyn a few days ago, just wanted to comment on it! Now, from the trailer you get the impression of two distinct worlds, one is Meanwhile City, where religion is law, and the home of Jonathan Preest, a masked vigilante.
The other is modern-day London. Going in you might make the same mistake that I did in expecting a film dwelling on the fantastical, but the truth is that Franklyn has a much richer story behind it than that!

I won't go into specifics as the last thing I want is to ruin the film for anyone, but it focuses on a handful of characters with a multitude of problems, but no apparent connection. As the film progresses however subtle clues start appearing, and eventually the threads of their lives come together as what it is really going on becomes clear.

This film is well worth seeing for yourself; it is slow in some parts however, so shake off any expectations of it being a non-stop action roller-coaster, keep an open mind and enjoy =)
